The Divine Mercy Shrine
This new, original oil painting of the image of the Divine Mercy was commissioned by Saint John Cantius Church in Chicago IL. The shrine's central image of the Divine Mercy strives to be consistent with all the recorded details of the private revelations of the Divine Mercy to Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska begun in July of 1937. Saint Faustina's stipulations to Eugeniusz Kazimirowski, the first artist commissioned to paint the Divine Mercy, as recorded by her spiritual director Blessed Father Michael Sopoćko, were each diligently applied to this new image.
The figures portrayed on the wings of the triptych are, from top left counter clockwise: Saint Faustina Kowalska, Blessed Father Sopoćko, Saint Maximilian Kolbe, and Saint Pope John Paul II.
